Tips
- The product will stay hydrated, but occasionally through the natural process of evaporation, may require a hydration top up. If a large number of sheets are required to be hydrated, leave for a number of hours totally submersed in a vessel of water.
- In a commercial setting where large numbers of sheets are required, machine hydration may be an option. For example use an agitator type domestic washing machine ensuring the machine is free from soap residue before use.
- Clean towels can be added to ensure the product does not float. The wider the agitation blades and the higher they are on the centre column, the more effective.
- Duo-Therm can also be cut to size, between the individual cells, to fit your application.
- It is counterproductive to use Duo-Therm sheets with bagged ice unless you put bagged ice on the bottom of your ice box and cover food/drinks with Duo-Therm sheets to create a constant downward chill.
Precautions
- Dry the product before freezing, otherwise left over moisture on the surface of the product will melt when it comes out of the freezer.
- If using the product in a therapeutic setting do not place it directly on an open wound.
- When using Duo-Therm as a heat pack to treat aches and pains or any other aspect of treatment relating to the body take extreme care to test the temperature before placing on the body in order to avoid injury.
- Always use a towel between your body and the product and remove immediately if it feels too hot.
- If using Duo-Therm to keep meat or fish cool, place the Duo-Therm sheet inside a plastic bag to prevent the sheet from absorbing any odour or liquid from the product.
- When using an Esky or cooler, always use a minimum of 1 sheet per 7-8 litres of cooler size. The more mass of Duo-Therm reusable ice packs the better and the longer it will last. Duo-Therm takes up less room than ice and is not as heavy in comparison.
- The colder the food or drinks are when placed into the cooler, the longer Duo-Therm packs will keep them that way.
- If at any time you are uncertain of safety of a medical application of this product – please seek the advice of a health professional.
